Mummy: Secrest of the Tomb

On Friday just passed (I wrote this in July and never published it, so many Fridays ago now!), we went on a family outing!!

Henna had the day off work so we decided to do something great. I have wanted to go see the special mummy exhibit since I heard about it back in February. So we decided to do that.

We caught the train in to the museum. It was a good idea at the time, but ended up being more expensive than driving and paying for parking. And Tia made it a little fun...

We got to the museum and pretty much went straight to the line for the exhibit. It started with a 20 minute 3D movie about the mummy on show and how he was embalmed. It was really interesting. Tia did ok, but after about 15 minutes she got restless and ran up and down the aisles. Then I discovered she had a poo. We went back after the movie to see the artefacts, but beacuse Tia wasnt the happiest and needed a nappy change we couldnt look around for long. There were a few mummies, their casings and artefacts from Ancient Egypt. It was something I love learning about so I was a little dissappointed I couldn't look around longer. I guess thats what happens when you go with an 18 month old though. I heard mum wants to go, I might go with her one day...

After the museum we walked over to Southbank. We saw the Wheel of Brisbane Ferris wheel and decided to go on. After we bought the tickets and hopped on Henna and I were like 'what are we doing??" It goes really high and we are scarred of heights. Tia, on the other hand, was pressed up against the glass or climbing on the chair looking at the view. She scarred me a little with her lack of fear. After going around once we calmed a little and enjoyed it. We went around 5 times before we had to get off.

Then we went and got some lunch. Tia was very tired by this stage, and kept looking at the 'dogs' (which were actually ibis birds. Everything is a dog to her now, although she used to say bird). I was also worried she was going to go swimming in the fountain (freezing cold winters day).

She fell asleep on the walk back to the train, much to my relief as I was not looking forward to another train ride with her. Then we headed home.

It was a great day. We had planned to go to the science centre as well, but ran out of time so that will have to be another family excursion another time.

Tia is becoming very vocal now. Not saying real words but just babbling all day long. She has a sweet little voice!!

Our little Tia

Tia is growing up.

She said her first 2 word sentance the other day.

"Hi (loooong pause) dad!"

Yep, she still loves her dad, and he was in her first 2 word sentance.

Sorry

I was unsure why we had advertising links coming up to the text we write. It is annoying, I don't want our 1 follower (!!!) to have all these silly ad links.

So I just tried to see how I can stop it, and (in my not very computer savvy way) all I can find is that they are here to stay, as this is a free blog for us and thats how the blogger people make money.

So I apologise, until I know how to stop it, for all the horrible links.

Someone Loves their Daddy...

For a couple of months now Henna has been on afternoon shift at work. This means afternoons and nights are very looonnnggg for Tia and I. It also means less time with Henna as he needs more sleep than when on dayshift. And I think Tia misses him.

Yesterday morning Tia and I got up at our usual time between 6 and 7am. I kept her happy as best as I could, but, shortly after 8am she kept going to our bedroom door and trying to open it.  I gave in (its becoming a routine now) and opened the door to let her wake up dad. She went up to his face and looked at him for a while, talked a little and then looked back at me when he didnt wake up.

She then looked around the room and saw his thongs. She picked one up and tried to put it on his foot, with little success. This woke up her beloved daddy, and they had cuddles and kisses. He didnt get up though and looked like he was going to go back to sleep. Tia left the room, and I thought "Ok, she has had cuddles, I will close the door and Henna can keep sleeping." But then Tia came back before I had a chance to move, dragging one of Hennas dirty shirts behind her, which she had gotton from the laundry. I laughed and said to Henna "I think she wants you to get up, she is trying to get you dressed!!"

Yep... Someone loves their daddy!!!

Major fail on my part...

Sooooo, I know its been a while. BUT, I am hoping to get into blogging more so that we can keep everyone up to date with what is happening in our lives.

Tia is growing up so quickly, saying new words everyday, I know I need to treat this more like a journal, so we have a record of Tia (and our future children) growing up.

More coming soon....
